What can one person do?
In 1998, I was involved in a one week service project to assist the abused and battered women's shelters in Utah. Most of the participants (approximately 60 individuals) solicited "donations-in-kind" from neighbors and friends. I chose a different approach and contacted several businesses and company executives. After working for 12 hours, I was able to collect (only through the generosity of others) more than $75,000 in cash, goods, and services.

What a learning experience! It taught me that there are many individuals who not only have the means but also the desire to assist others (when presented with a compelling opportunity to do so). After this experience I thought "What's more compelling than saving my children?" This is why I am donating my time, energy, and money to fund raising and public awareness for HD. Given similar circumstances, I'm sure you would do the same.
